CHARITY WORK AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Alon’s commitment to making a difference spans various causes, but his heart has always been deeply rooted in initiatives that foster understanding and build bridges. His involvement with these causes isn't just a footnote; it's a testament to a lifelong dedication to bettering communities both near and far.

At the top of the list is Seeds of Peace, a summer camp in Maine that brings together Israeli and Arab youth to break down barriers and build lasting peace. Alon and his family have been involved with the camp since its inception, drawn to its unique approach of using dialogue and shared experiences to create mutual understanding.

Over the years, Seeds of Peace has garnered support from high-profile figures, including politicians like Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright, and movie stars such as Natalie Portman and Ben Stiller, all of whom believe in the camp's mission to transform enemies into allies through friendship and cooperation.

While Seeds of Peace is a cornerstone of his philanthropic efforts, Alon also has a long-standing

involvement with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). He participated in the Glass Leadership Institute (GLI) program when he was young and has supported the organization’s efforts to combat hate and promote justice ever since.

In response to the October 7th terrorist attacks, Alon and his mother spearheaded a rapid emergency response with Magen David Adom (the Jewish Red Cross), successfully raising $1.2 million for ambulances in Tel Aviv. Their quick action demonstrated their ability to lead under pressure and make a tangible impact.

Alon’s support for Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces (FIDF) pays tribute to his father’s service as an Israeli tank commander during the War of '67 and the Six-Day War. While Alon prefers boardrooms over battlegrounds, his contributions help provide for those who serve in uniform.

In Philadelphia, Alon’s passion for urban revitalization intersects with the arts through his company, Urban Conversions. By partnering with the Mural Arts Program, which works with at-risk youth to create murals alongside professional artists, he incorporates these community-driven artworks into his adaptive reuse projects. These vibrant murals transform historic warehouses, churches, and factories into loft apartments, adding aesthetic appeal while celebrating the unique histories of the buildings and their neighborhoods. This blend of art and architecture creates living spaces that honor the past and engage the community in a meaningful way.

Closer to home in New Orleans, Alon adds a playful touch to his community involvement. He’s known for his two miniature greyhounds, Marshall and Peavey, whom he dresses up as Batman and Robin to bring smiles to sick kids in hospitals. Alon has also converted his car collection into Batmobiles, each one equipped with whimsical gadgets like water machine guns, bubble machines, and confetti cannons, ensuring every visit is filled with joy and excitement.

Alon also supports the following New Orleans non-profits: Audubon Nature Institute, Ogden Museum of Art, New Orleans Jazz Museum, Galatoire Foundation, Historic French Quarter Easter Parade, the Mystic Krewe of Barkus, The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus and the Visiting Pet Program.
