PROFESSOR

As if transforming historic buildings and writing game-changing books weren't enough, Alon also serves as an adjunct professor at Tulane University. Why stick to one gig when juggling several keeps everyone guessing?

Telling people he's both a real estate developer and a professor keeps friends baffled about what he actually does all day—probably switching between blueprints and lecture notes.

While most professors might opt for the classic tweed jackets with elbow patches, Alon prefers his all-black wardrobe. After all, why follow the academic dress code when you can make your own rules?

In the Fundamentals of Real Estate Development class, it’s all about getting the real deal from a real real estate developer. Students learn everything it takes to bring a project from concept to cash: wrangling architects, charming politicians, navigating the zoning process, winning over neighborhoods, and taming the chaos of construction. It all builds up to crafting that killer offering memorandum (OM) to pitch to investors and rake in millions in equity dollars. Think of it as boot camp, but with more drama and fewer push-ups.

The Negotiation Simulations class brings Hollywood’s Silver Screen straight to the classroom. Students don’t just read about negotiation—they live it. And by "live it," we mean they negotiate with each other for their grades! From intense zoning battles and neighborhood disputes to buying used cars, asking the boss for a raise, and even negotiating during a bank robbery hostage reenactment—it’s all fair game. It's like a reality TV show, but with more strategy and less dramatic music.

Then there’s the Advanced Real Estate Marketing class, where students learn how to sell anything with four walls and a roof—or even without. Whether it’s selling houses, leasing apartments, or directing ad agencies to craft the perfect logo, slogan, branding, and signage, this class covers it all. Students become masters of turning "meh" into "must-have" with the perfect blend of creativity and strategy. By the end, they'll know how to make even the most mundane property sound like a castle.

Beyond Tulane, Alon frequently guest lectures on topics like real estate, entrepreneurship, marketing, and tech startups across various universities and gives talks about his books.

For those interested in his literary pursuits, the "Books" tab provides details on his works, including The Secret Formula: The Developer's Guide to Nailing Neighborhood Approvals, Attack of the 50 Foot Developer, and The Gotham Principles.

Welcome to his corner of Tulane University, where students leave as real estate warriors, armed with spreadsheets and the power of persuasion—ready to charm a neighborhood board or out-negotiate a bank robber.
